iPhone Competition
It is a fact of life that any successful product will inevitably face competition from other people looking to make money from the same idea. The recent release of the iPhone by Apple has prompted many companies to attempt to take over some part of the sales for themselves. These companies have also attempted to include as many of the features found in the iPhone as possible into their own products.
Apple's first attempt to break into the mobile phone market was to include their iTunes software on mobile phones to encourage users to use the Apple music download site. This was, however, limited by the small memory size of previous mobile phones. While this software can now be easily used on the iPhone, competitors have begun making the program available on their phones as well. One such example is the Raza made by Motorola, which makes iTune available through the Verizon and Sprint phone networks.
Some iPhone features have also become common in products that are advertised as replacements for the iPhone. These products do not include all of the features found in the iPhone, but they have incorporated the major pieces of technology that make the iPhone so useful. Touch screens are becoming ever more popular, as people realize how useful they are, and many companies are attempting to develop touch screens that are as sensitive as the one on the iPhone.
The iPhone's large capacity hard drive has driven many competitors to build hard drives into their competing products as well, and also attempt to improve their hard drives in order to better compete with Apple. Consumers can choose from two models of iPhone - the four gigabyte model or the eight gigabyte model. More and more phone companies are trying to build phones with hard drives that match this amount of memory space.
The iPhone also boasts easy access to the Internet through Wi-Fi technology and more companies are also trying to include this feature in their phones.
Perhaps one of the most important worries that consumers have about the iPhone is that the screen may not provide a clear image. Competing firms have begun considering building phones with larger display screens to solve this problem.
The final aspect of the iPhone that competitors are looking to include in their own products is easy access to the Internet through Wi-Fi technology. Many companies now include this technology on their phones as well. However, the Wi-Fi connections on these phones does not always work perfectly. The iPhone makes use of the AT&T system for internet access, which is often said to be among the best for use in mobile internet access. Competitors are looking for ways to improve their internet access services and are using the iPhone as the example to follow.
Considering the magnitude of the success of the Apple iPhone, it is no surprise that competition has already arisen from other mobile phone companies. While some companies are attempting to produce phones that are similar to the iPhone in terms of functionality and features, other companies are attempting to improve on the design of the iPhone. This competition in the mobile phone market is not likely to end and Apple will undoubtedly continue to give other companies a run for their money.
